Lakai x Sanrio. The second I heard that this collab was going to be a thing, I already knew that I’d love it and want to buy all of their apparel (too bad my wallet can’t afford it lol rip). If you didn’t already know, I’m a huge, and I mean HUGE fan of Gudetama; Sanrio’s latest character which is basically an adorable lazy egg. Anything that has gudetama’s face on it, I will buy it; it’s that bad. And the second that I saw this lil cutie on the sleeves, I just knew that it was going to be my new favorite top. I’m loving the trend of having designs on the sleeves, and with Sanrio adding only a touch of cuteness and not going overboard with the print, it made me fall in love with this top even more.
For this look, I wanted to aim for more of a “Harajuku/Japanese streetwear” type of look by going all out on accessories & jewelry; and thinking of how I would style this outfit if I were in Japan. I even took the photos in a laundromat (and I’ve always liked the aesthetic of laundromat pictures to be quite honest). I wanted the long sleeve to be more of a dress rather than a top lengthwise, so I heavily sized up to give it more of a baggy and long look. Long tops are always a good fit with knee high socks or fishnet stockings, but I haven’t found a good pair of fishnets yet, so I decided to go with my trusty knee highs just to add a little extra sass to this look. I also added in this cute star choker that I got from Osewaya in Harajuku and platforms to really make me feel like I was back in Tokyo again. I don’t know why but lately I’ve been having the hugest desire to go back to Japan, but with everything that’s going on, it’ll be a while before I can go back again. In the meantime, styling my clothes in the way that I would have back in Japan and looking back at all of my pictures from my first trip will have to suffice for now.
